A leading member of the Optoelectronics College, developing innovative practical work and learning activities for students and related professional development activities for teachers.

Stuart is Head of Physics at Robert Gordon’s College which is a large independent secondary school in Aberdeen, Scotland. He leads a team of eight physics teachers and a technician. He has over twenty five years’ experience teaching in Scottish schools and has been involved extensively with national curriculum and assessment development in Scotland.

Recently he has been a leading member of the Optoelectronics College developing innovative practical work and learning activities for students and related professional development activities for teachers. Stuart has delivered and organised a variety of teacher professional development events during his career. He is currently Institute of Physics Teacher Network Co-ordinator for Grampian and the Northern Isles area of Scotland, the Chair of the Association for Science Education Scotland and is a member of the Scottish Government’s Science and Engineering Education Advisory Group.
