Biology, Chemistry and Physics teacher, Saskatchewan

Science is a valuable way to answer questions and learn about the world around us.

I teach at a small rural K-12 school and thus have the privilege of teaching Science 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 as well as grade 11 and 12 Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I am the Science Teacher for most of my students for most of their public school years and so I have a major role in shaping their ideas about science.

Science has always been my major interest and as a lifelong learner I obtained a Certificate of Extended Studies in Chemistry and Physics to go along with my Bachelor of Science Biology major. With a keen interest in Geology this allows me to learn and teach in all the major fields of science and to be accredited in the high school sciences.

Students learn science content and skills in my classes but I believe they really learn to do scientific investigations and the presentation of those investigations through large projects such as science fair. In this way they show that science is a valuable way to answer questions and learn about the world around us.
